Egger UK has updated its EcoHomes fact sheet to incorporate the latest changes in legislation, including amendments to the English, Scottish and Irish building regulations.

Europe’s leading wood-based panels manufacturer, Egger offers a large range of high quality and environmentally friendly products.

Its construction range includes BBA approved Weyroc Protect, flooring grade chipboard that is incorporated in the Rapid Deck floor laying system, and the BBA-approved EuroStrand OSB.

Egger’s fact sheet – which can be downloaded on the Internet by visiting www.egger.co.uk/ecohomes – is a comprehensive guide showing how the company’s products can assist builders meet the stringent procedures laid down by EcoHomes.

Sophie Read, Egger UK’s Construction Products Coordinator said: "By using Egger’s EcoHomes fact sheet you will be able to make an informed decision about which products to use."

EcoHomes is an independently verified environmental assessment method for new homes. It rewards developers who improve environmental performance through good design, rather than high capital cost solutions.

Known as the homes version of BREEAM, EcoHomes considers the broad environmental concerns of climate change, resource use and impact on wildlife and balances these against the need for a high quality of life and a safe and healthy internal environment.

The covers all standard housing developments in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including private and social housing schemes, flats/apartments and houses, new build, and major refurbishment.

Sophie Read added: "There is a growing consumer demand for energy efficiency measures in homes, reflecting concern over growing fuel prices and climate change issue.

"Recent research from the Energy Saving Trust (July 2006) shows that consumers are willing to pay up to £10k more for energy efficient homes. So it is not surprising that there is a continually growing appetite for energy efficient products, services and materials amongst the building and construction industry."
