Following independent testing of its BBA approved 'Rapid Deck' floor laying system at Durham University, Egger UK Ltd has identified additional benefits to the product's already proven ability to save considerable amounts of installation time and offer a reduction in the potential for squeaky floors.
Rapid Deck:
1. Is stronger than a nailed system: The connection achieved between the Weyroc Protect chipboard panels and joist (using Weyroc D4 Adhesive) is up to five times stronger than that of a nailed floor.
2. Provides reduced deflection: The enhanced strength of the board/joist connection stiffens the floor, thus reducing deflection levels without needing to re-design the floor.
3. Delivers cost reduction benefits: Smaller joists could be considered as the inter-connection of joist/board interface can enhance the bending capacity estimation calculations.
Rapid Deck is a floor laying system, which uses adhesive to bond the board to the joist (and is also used within the tongue and groove profile). Apart from the first row, no nails are required or used in this system.
This not only speeds up the floor laying process, but also provides these additional benefits indicated by Egger's independent testing, giving those house builders who use the decking method significant health and safety and cost advantages.
