OSB - Oriented Strand Boards – are resin-bonded wood based panels made of oriented micro-veneers (strands). The strands are compressed into 3 or 4 layers, the surface layer strands are generally laid parallel with the long edges of the panel ("oriented") while the core strands are ideally at right angles to the surface layer strands.
The extreme level of surface orientation is the result of EGGER’s innovative mat-forming technology. The strands are exceptionally long and fine compared to conventional manufacturing processes and core and surface layers are processed separately from the start of the manufacturing process. This manufacturing technique lies behind the consistent and groundbreaking qualities of EGGER OSB boards.
